SPAR through its Community Benefits Scheme continues its work with Childline in helping them curb some of the social ills that are befalling children. Childline operates several drop in centers around the country and they are working hand in hand with the Department of Social Services in addressing issues related with child abuse and child marriages. SPAR donates shopping vouchers which are used to purchase grocery items for children that come to the different drop in centers.
Childline launched their Quiet Room which was sponsored by SPAR on Saturday 5 September 2015. “We would like to thank SPAR for giving us funds which has made it possible for us to have this quiet room," stated Stella Motsi the National Director for Childline Zimbabwe. The quiet room will be used by our volunteers to give them time to recoup after handling a difficult case. SPAR continues to show us their support and today as we launch this quiet room I would like to commend SPAR for their continued support of our Organisation and for appreciating what we are doing in the community.” The launch which was also attended by all helpline volunteers and staff of Childline and was a success. “SPAR will continue supporting Childline in their initiatives and we hope that the Quiet room will be beneficial to all volunteers and staff that will make use of it," stated Shamiso Pfumayaramba, Public Relations Officer for SPAR during the launch. It is part of our Corporate Social responsibility and SPAR will not tire in its work with the community.
